Salma Hayek Signs Deal to Star in Multiple MCU Films

Salma Hayek, who was recently featured in the newest Marvel film, Eternals, just confirmed that she will soon be seen in additional films from the film giant.

During a November 3 interview on the Smallzy’s Celebrity Talk podcast, the 55-year-old actress revealed she signed a deal to star in multiple Marvel films.

“I did sign multiple movie deals!” she shared, according to a report from IGN. “It was kind of fun being part of this… secret society that you have to protect so fearlessly!”

Ajak In 'Eternals'

In Eternals, which was released on October 18, 2021, Hayek starred as Ajak, alongside a number of other well-know actors and actresses, including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, and Angelina Jolie. However, as those who have seen the film well know (and don’t read beyond if you don’t want a major spoiler), her character is largely seen in flashbacks as she dies fairly early on in the movie.

As IGN explained to readers, Hayek’s character was betrayed by Madden’s character, Ikaris, and ultimately killed by Kro, who was voiced by Bill Skarsgård and known as the leader of the Deviants.

Salma Hayek's MCU Deal

Although Hayek’s return to the Marvel Universe has been confirmed, a number of other things have not, including how the film giant will incorporate he deceased character into future movies, and whether or not that deal includes a role in Eternals 2.

Either way, it seems that Hayek’s character, if she continues to play the same one, which has not been confirmed, would only be able to be featured in either flashbacks or prequels.

It was also not revealed how many films were included in Hayek’s deal.

'Eternals' Was A Box Office Hit

IGN went on to point out that when it comes to MCU, both Captain Marvel and Captain America: The First Avenger take place during different time frames from that of Eternals. So, it is certainly a possibility that Hayek’s character will be featured in a film in a different stage of her life.

While it is hard to say what the future holds for Hayek and Marvel, Eternals was a big hit for the comic universe, bringing in a whopping $ 71 million on its opening weekend at the box office.

Poor Rotten Tomatoes Rating

As Eternals continues to bring in earnings for MCU, there is also word that it didn’t perform all that well with those that saw it. In fact, as IGN explained, the film actually brought in less than expected and is the lowest-rated MCU movie with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 47 percent.

That said, with the addition of Marvel’s Black Knight, the Eternals movie has created a number of possibilities for future films to be added to the world of MCU.
