Actors Cameron Monaghan and Noel Fisher played the roles of Ian Gallagher and Mickey Milkovich on Shameless, respectively, and while they aren’t the lovers they are on-screen, off-screen, they do have quite a bond.
According to a report from The Things, Monaghan and Fisher had one heck of a time filming the Showtime series, which came to an end earlier this year, and were frequently spotted goofing around with one another, taking selfies together, and posing for other social media pics.
Cameron Monaghan And Noel Fisher’s Friendship Helped Them Through ‘Odd Scenes’
In 2015, Monaghan and Fisher gave an interview, via Shameless US News about their off-screen relationship after the intimate nature of the series’ opening scenes were mentioned.
According to Fisher, all the intimate scenes he has with Monaghan "are kind of odd, but it makes it a lot easier being buddies with Cam."
"And, hey, it’s our job," Monaghan noted, adding that while many of their scenes were awkward, as was the fact that their friends and families were watching, he knew that "what we say to each other [was] a lot worse than anything anyone [could have] ever say to us."
Cameron Monaghan Returned To ‘Shameless’ To Continue The Story Of ‘Gallavich’
While Monaghan left Shameless in 2018, he ultimately returned to the show, and to Fisher, to continue on with the love story of "Gallavich," a moniker given to the relationship his and Fisher’s characters shared.
“That was something that felt worth going back to,” Monaghan said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2019. “There’s still a lot of story to tell. We’ve never really had these characters just together in a somewhat stable environment for very long, so that’s been fun to explore."
‘Gallavich’ Spent Time Behind Bars
Looking back at the time their characters spent behind bars, Monaghan and Fisher said that being cellmates wasn’t great for their relationship.
“It turns out that living in cramped quarters without much break from one another is not necessarily all that conducive to a healthy relationship,” Fisher stated. “It’s basically living together in the worst studio apartment you can possibly imagine.”
“Like any romantic relationship, you need a healthy level of distance and separation, and that’s something not afforded to them. They’re in a challenging place and trying to work through their issues," added Monaghan.
What’s Going On In Cameron Monaghan And Noel Fisher’s Personal Lives?
As some may know, Fisher has been married to wife Layla Alizada for four years.
According to a report from People, the couple met on the set of a television show called Godiva in 2005 and tied the knot in July 2017.
“We always wanted a wedding that was small and intimate. It was a magical day and even more special having so much of it put together with the help of our loved ones,” Fisher and Alizada told the magazine at the time.
Meanwhile, Monaghan was previously involved with actress and model Peyton List but appears to be single at the moment.
