CrossFit Athlete Annie Thorisdottir Shows Off Glutes In Handstand Walk

And so it begins. Yesterday, CrossFit finally announced the team workouts for the Opens' Quarterfinals set for today, April 8 – Sunday, April 10. Annie Thorisdottir is already in "beast-mode," ready to take on the month-long event as a member of Team Reykjavik.

She felt optimistic about the season and shared with her one million-plus followers on Instagram that being in a team feels so much better than working alone. The group has been training for this day, and now the reckoning is here!

Impressive Handstand Walk

In a video mashup showing Team Reykjavik doing their events, Annie showed off her impressive physique, notably her glutes and ripped biceps. Annie wore a skintight two-toned burgundy and black leggings that showed her bulging thigh muscles and rock-hard glutes.

Her arm muscles also strained as she walked to the finish line. She delivered a clean handstand walk (a new addition) in Event One, and it's clear that the weeks of training weren't futile.

Team Work = Dream Work

Before today's competition, Annie and her teammates, including Lauren Fisher, practiced for the handstand walk with upside-down pushups. The exercise helped them build their upper body muscle strength and learn to walk topsy-turvy the same way they use their legs. It challenged the two-time winner, but she proved she's up to the task today. Here's what Annie said about being in a team;

"Being part of a team is different. Anyone Who has ever played a team sport will know that in order to be successful you need to be willing to put yourself in a vulnerable position for the people next to you."Getting Ready For Events Two – Five

The handstand walks aren't the only part of Event One, however challenging they were. The athlete combined it with four dumbbell front-rack lunge lengths and 30 single-leg squats, according to Barbend.

Even when they were having fun, the group was inadvertently working because Khan Porter (member) said,

"Fun fact, jumping in that chain mail was the equivalent of back squatting 200lbs."Scaling Through

Annie and the team also have to prove their strength in the new Shuttle Run addition during Event Two. Barbend reported that "some athletes misunderstood what constitutes one rep in the shuttle run, and so they submitted scores with accidental half the reps."

That's too bad since the Workout Standards had clear instructions. The subsequent events would hold between Saturday and Sunday, and Team Reykjavik would participate since they scaled through the quarterfinals successfully.
