Sam Wanamaker must be turning in his grave. The US actor, who founded Shakespeare’s Globe and gave his name to the intimate adjoining theatre, envisaged classical plays produced in the classical style. To witness the magical stage desecrated by this atrocity would have sent him spiralling into a depression.
