Jason Momoa And Lisa Bonet Announce Split After 16 Years Together

As one door closes, another opens, or so they say. Celebrity marriages are as uncertain as life itself; we love, hurt, and grow with them as they share their journeys with the world. On Wednesday night, Jason Momoa, 42, and partner of 16 years (wife for four) Lisa Bonet, 54, jointly announced their split. Although they don’t owe outsiders private information, the statement was to ensure an honest evolution following the breakup.

Hollywood It-Couple

Even though the couple kept most of their relationship life private, Jason never flinched on expressing his love for his ex-wife (Lisa isn’t officially on social media.) The pair rocked red carpets together, rising to the top as one of Hollywood’s IT couple, but like many others, their time is over.

Relationship Timeline

Momoa and Bonet share two biological children, Lola, 14, and Nakoa-Wolf, 13, and third child, popular actress Zoë Kravitz, from Lisa’s previous marriage to Lenny Kravitz. The couple met in 2004 but waited till 2017 to tie the knot in a secret marriage ceremony. Although they officially started dating in 2005, Lisa maintains they’ve been together since the day they met “eating Grits and Guinness” at an L. A. bar.

Speaking to Men’s Health magazine, Momoa complimented his ex-wife, saying, “…You meet someone you’re completely infatuated with and then find out she’s amazing, intelligent, and funny and she’s a goddess…”.

The Heartbreaking Statement

“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding – and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” they wrote in their opening statement.

The couple assured fans of their continuing affections saying, “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to be.”

Devoted To The Kids

During the compulsory lockdown in 2020, the family bonded, and Momoa expressed his desire to become a better father. “My wife is very sophisticated and smart and (our kids and I are) kind of like animals that need to be trained better,” he said. Now with the impending divorce, the couple wrote, “Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our children. Teaching our Children What’s possible ~ Living the Prayer, May Love Prevail.” Signed J & L.

The couple would work well co-parenting, as they did with Grammy-award winner Lenny Kravitz and Zöe. Jason is very close to the both of them, so no matter what the future hold for him and Lisa, they’ll embrace it with grace. For now, Jason has deleted all mementos of Lisa and him from his Instagram page.
