Remembering Johnny Wactor: Tessa Farrell Speaks Out on Tragic Loss and Calls for Community Action

In a heartrending tribute on social media, Tessa Farrell, the former fiancée of “General Hospital” star Johnny Wactor, shared her profound grief and shock over his untimely death. Her words resonated with pain and a call to action, as she addressed those responsible for the tragic incident that claimed Johnny’s life.

On a somber note, Farrell expressed her disbelief and sorrow: “If the person who did this, if you’re watching, I’m sorry, but you shot the wrong guy,” she said, visibly shaken. Her statement underscored a poignant critique of criminal actions that end lives too soon. She continued, “You know, you can get a real job. I know the job market’s hard, but we’re all in it together. You don’t have to steal, you know? Especially take a life over it. Human life is disregarded too easily, guys.”

Farrell’s message didn’t just dwell on her loss but also looked to inspire change within the community. “We gotta make some changes as a community. We gotta support each other and come together. Maybe that’s what Johnny’s gift is for us, maybe he’s gifting that to all of us because he was full of gifts,” she reflected.

Her emotional tribute also included personal reflections on her relationship with Wactor, emphasizing the profound impact he had on her life. “I love you very much, and I’m very proud of you for the person you’ve become and the obstacles you’ve overcome. You’ve forever inspired me in my work and what I do, and I wouldn’t be here without what you’ve taught me. So, thank you, Johnny. I love you. I miss you. I hope those last moments were OK for you and I’m glad someone was with you,” she shared.

Johnny Wactor tragically passed away at the age of 37 on Saturday, May 25. His death occurred during a confrontation where he reportedly intervened to stop three men from stealing his catalytic converter. According to his brother, Grant Wactor, Johnny was accompanying a female coworker to her car when he noticed the men lurking around his vehicle. Upon confronting them, he realized they were armed, but he courageously shielded his coworker, ultimately facing the fatal consequences of his bravery.

The loss of Johnny Wactor has deeply affected not only his family and friends but also the broader “General Hospital” community. The producers of the show expressed their devastation: “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Farrell also reminisced about the beginnings of her relationship with Johnny, which started when she moved to Hollywood in 2013 to pursue acting, just like he did. “We were friends at first and then kind of fell in love, and it was really fiery, like, too fiery. We brought out the best in each other, and then also, the darkest parts of each other,” she explained. This shared passion for acting was a significant part of their bond, and even after their relationship ended, they remained connected through their professional pursuits.

She noted how she supported Johnny through his journey in Alcoholics Anonymous and proudly mentioned his sobriety towards the end of his life. “We stayed in touch after we broke up sometimes, and I got to see him kind of prepare for some of his scenes for General Hospital,” Farrell said. “And oh, my God, this man was like a machine.”

In concluding her post, Farrell urged her followers and fans to take a stand against such senseless violence and to work towards a community where such tragedies are a thing of the past. “It’s so sad that, you know, this is how he had to be taken from us because he cared so much about doing the right thing and earning things. … I wouldn’t have made it without him. It was how I learned from him, and I will always love him,” she expressed.

Farrell’s call to action, “We should find these killers, guys. This guy was a rising star and such a bright soul to this world. We can’t keep losing things like this because people are afraid to stand up and do what’s right,” serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing battle against violence and the need for communal solidarity in the face of adversity.
