Chaim Topol, a leading Israeli actor who charmed generations of theatregoers and movie-watchers with his portrayal of Tevye, the long-suffering and charismatic milkman in Fiddler on the Roof, has died in Tel Aviv, Israeli leaders said Thursday. He was 87.
